99 Camry V6 Brake light
Brake light (Same as when emergency brake is up) comes on while driving but periodically goes out when accelerating or going up hill. Brakes feel fine but make noise when wet. Any idea where to start? Planning on taking it to be looked over the first of the week. Just curious if this has happened to anyone else.
Thanks in advance for any replys. Steve |

Re: 99 Camry V6 Brake light
Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder. The light will come on when the fluid level gets toward the minimum line and sloshes around a bit when driving. Actually remove the cap and look in there. Many times old brake fluid will stain the insides of the translucent master cylinder causing it to look full, when it is not.

99 Camry V6 Brake light
Any idea how to access the Master cylinder in this vehicle?? Basically I just need to know where it is. The manual says nothing about where it's located, not suprising considering the manual doesn't even mention spark plugs. Thanks for the help.

Re: 99 Camry V6 Brake light
Master cylinder is in the engine compartment, in front of the driver near the top of the firewall.

Anyway, I checked it and per Mikes instructions filled it to the Full indicator. (it did appear full but wasn't) and the problem has gone away. Thank you Brian and Thank you Mike. I appreciate your patience in answering my inquiries. Thanks again, Steve |

Re: 99 Camry V6 Brake light
You are welcome.
It might be a good idea to have your brakes checked for wear soon. When brake fluid get's down that low it is usually due to wear on the brake pads. Mike |
