lookin to buy a 97

hey all, im new here, this looked like a pretty good place to look around and ask some questions. im thinkin about takin a 97 tahoe off a friend, it has 113k on her, and a blown 350. im a lil nervous about buyin it, since the motor blew cause the chick's mom drove it on the highway in 4lo. she's offering to sell it for $1k. it seems like a steal deal to me, it's a southern car, and it's damn near spotless. are there any things i can look for while she's not runnin, im thinkin bout takin it to a shop to see if there are any suspension/brake problems or whatnot. also, all i can picture is the tach bouncin off the rev limiter till the motor blew. do ya think i am goin to have to worry bout the tranny suffering serious damages at these high rpm's? or any other problems. oh, yeah, if anyone has a motor for it and are around NY, drop me a line

Ty

Re: lookin to buy a 97

id start by looking at the front drive train.if there isnt too much oil and coolant from the motor blowing up, see if there was damage to the cv joints , shafts and bearings. oh heck, tell ya what, ive got a 1981 cadillac eldorado ill trade you even up on. it too is a southern car. is the tahoe a 4 door . or two ?
