Need Wire Diagram for 97 d16y7 alternator

Anyone have a wire diagram, or at least directions for dummies, on an alternator for a d16y7 (1997 DX hatch).

I can't quite get a good look at the alternator, nor can I find wire schematics in my Hayne's manual or on any of my searches here.

I suspect the alternator is not grounded, or on its last legs, causing power surges and troughs (lights dim etc.). With 600 watts of amps in the back, I prefer not to blow my system. I want to check the ground before I opt to replace the alternator, but don't know how.

lil' help? ("Big 3" instructions for the alternator would be good too - I get the battery and valve grounds ok - anything with how to ground the alternator.)

Thanks AF - your help is always appreciated.

Re: Need Wire Diagram for 97 d16y7 alternator

The alternator is grounded through the housing to the block.

As for the Big 3, it's valve cover to chassis ground, battery ground, and alternator to + post on the battery. For the alternator to battery wire, just add an additional wire going from the post on the alternator to the + post on the battery, but make sure it is fused with whatever size the factory fuse is on the alternator.

Check that out... it's the factory service manual... it might help you out a little bit.
