H22A in a 94-97 Accord questions

would a h22a swap in an accord pass emissions and california smog. also would it be possible to turbocharge it, and also keep the A/C in it too? i need to sell one of my cars so i can get a 4 door and looked into an Accord, but im a power happy son of a bitch and i want the biggest honda motor and i also want to turbo it, while keeping it street legal. is there anyone out there that has done this, and if so could to tell me about it? i have too many 2 door coupes like my 240SX, my RX-7, and my 95 Nissan pickup, but i need a 4 door car, preferably a honda, that could have big power and have the comforts of a stocker, if not better!

Looks like we're in the same position! I have a 96 and I'm finally doing my JDM H22A swap. The engine is coming in this week!! I haven't found any good turbo kits for our cars. Actually, I think Drag makes a kit for an H22A in an Accord body so the piping will fit our car w/an H22A. But anyways, I'm not sure about the legality of the Drags. My friends shop is doing everything for me, he specializes in custom swaps and custom turbos. He's building me a custom turbo setup that won't be smoggable or legal but there is a way to get around it. I just think of it as an expensive registration. Because every two years when I have to smog, I have to go in and have the turbo taken off and then after smog go put it back on. A small price to pay IMO in order to be kicking ass in my FOUR DOOR ACCORD!!!!

For sure you can keep the intake and exhaust. I don't have headers on my car because I knew I was eventually putting a turbo on and didn't want to spend a lot of money on something I knew wouldn't be converted over. Since both engines are a 2.2 the headers might work. I don't know too much about the fitment but I wouldn't see why they wouldn't. I have AEM pulleys and my guy said I think they would just need difft belts. Hope that helps.

Re: H22A in a 94-97 Accord questions

I know this is an old thread, but I had to clear this up. Intake or exhaust won't fit the h22 swap on the accord. The throttle is bigger than the accords. The exhaust might fit with fabrication.(maybe, but it will be extremely restrictive)

Re: H22A in a 94-97 Accord questions

The headers won't fit either. Different design. The only thing that I see that you would be able to keep is the clutch and flywheel.
