Stuck in auto 4x4 , 1999 silverado

hey guys , new here and have been doing some reading , but cant find any answers yet. my "service 4x4" light came on all of a sudden and im stuck in auto 4x4. none of the lights on the push button switch is on., but when i turn the key they all flash on like they normally do. , but then its blank. nothing works. i took the switch out and everything looks fine with it. anyone have any ideas....... think its the switch or something deeper.? thanks in advance!!

There is/was a problem with the solder connections on the 4x4 switch.
Im not sure if this helps.

i have resoldered the connections anyhow , just for the heck of it , even tho they looked fine ., that didnt solve my problem. what i cant figure out is why its engaged in "auto" 4x4 . , theres power to the switch , ive checked the conection on the auto motor and with the key on i can hear the motor engage when i clip the connection in place. ..... im stumped.

Most likley the shift control module, BUT you really need to get it scanned for DTC's before you do anything. How do you know it's stuck in "auto" 4wd if none of the lights are working?

late 99 to 01 we have switch failure most like likely set dtc c2425
this dtc would be under chasis menu.

i know my own truck well enough to know its in auto 4x4. i can spin the rear wheels in reverse, and not spin them in foward., ive used it enough to know, and know the sound that its in 4x4.espesially when you turn the wheels hard up and it makes that nice rubbing grabbing noise. the truck was fine when i parked it , went back out and started it again to go somewhere and it was doing this. weird ....... or wierd ....
