How to make throttle cable tighter?

I have a 1996 Maxima SE 5 Speed and I am wanting to make the throttle cable tighter. I test drove a 1996 240SX and a 1993 Prelude, and their throttle cables are tighter than mine is. I know I have a family car but I'd like to feel like I have better throttle response with a tighter throttle cable; if any of this makes sense.

Thanks,
Mooney

U mean u want to have the freeplay away? Better response comes from tuneup...

Anyways, correct the possibly dangerously cracked rubber tip; here u can also tighten wire [adj. nuts]:

I checked the rubber tips, they are in good condition. I didn't mean better sponse, I have good response. I want the pedal more firm, I guess that's how to describe it, like a tighter spring on the throttle body. If any of that makes sense. Could I maybe get a spring from a 240SX throttle body and put it on mine?

Thanks,
Mooney

Measure the spring size and compare, cannot see why not, if its similar.

The current spring may be made 'stronger' by cutting 1-2 turns from the spring.

Stiffnes may be added or by adding extra spring: the longer it is, the more uniform response (cutting is not good in this sense). Get one 'std' 3" spring, attach one end to the axle mech. Fashion a steel support for other end, down the engine under some tough nut for attachement.

So, cutting off a turn of the spring would make it "stronger", not weaker?

Where would I get a 3" spring? Do you mean put it right next to the spring that's on the throttle body now and fasten it to somewhere on the engine? Tryin to understand.

Thanks for the help. I might go to a junk yard Monday and just pick up a 240SX throttle body.

Yes. But its capacity to stretch will be less. If lenght is not enough, it will be too tight when pedal is pressed full (thereby dont cut too many turns). On many systems there is a possibility to change spring end attachment location, check.

Where to find? Hmm, old lawnmover, junkyard, good bolts&nuts shop... anyplace. Or DIY: buy pianowire, two pressed wood blocks, one 1/4 steel rod - make a notch to attach wire and start to spin around rod so that wire comes from between the blocks (which acts like a brake).

I'll make a scetch for u, post here tomorrow.
