T25 to 14B conversion
Hey all. My car is in my sig and I was thinking about making the jump up to a 14B. I had a few questions though I was hoping some experienced DSMers could help me out with.
1) What do I need to get to do the conversion? I know I'd need the turbo and I've read about the return and oil lines. What else would I need? Also what tools do you need to do the job? 2) Can anyone point me to a good write-up of the procedure? I'm planning on doing the job myself and have little to no experience working on cars. I did the BOV, UICP, and FIPK on my own for my car but I figure this will be more of a process and its something will help me better understand my car in the end. 3) The reason for the conversion is that today my dad was following me home from the mechanic and he noticed that whenever I'd accelerate hard and shift, there would be a small cloud of blue smoke out my exhaust pipe. When I was changing my intake pipe, I dug into the stock turbo and felt the shaft jiggle a bit so I'm guessing that my T25 is on its way out (141k miles). I know there are a lot more factors that play into this question but should replacing the turbo be something I make a priority or do I have some time (months, years) before anything will blow up? Thanks for any help you can offer. I need my car to last for a few more years and want to catch any problems before they become disasters.

Re: T25 to 14B conversion
vfaq.com look at the 16g install, same thing
BTW u also need a MBC, walbro 190/255 fuel pump(255 requires a regulator), new gaskets if u really want them and LICP to take the extra boost if u dont already have them You can also find a 1g return line and use that instead of buying a new one

Re: T25 to 14B conversion
Are the fuel pump and LICP necessary if I'm not looking to up my boost yet? I've got a MBC waiting for install but I figured I would just leave the boost low until I got the supporting mods for higher flow.

Re: T25 to 14B conversion
If you dont run that much boost you should be fine with a rewired fuel pump.
http://www.dsmtuner.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92558 You can reuse your oil drain line but you will have to file the bolt holes out farther. You can get a used j-pipe off e-bay for a decent price. The install was very easy for me and if you have basic tools you should be able to do it too. |
