lowering 05

just picked up my 05 silverado last week.looking to lowering it the told me kit for 99-04 2/4 drop wont work due to shackles being welded on, and they told me the 4/6 must notch frame and not sure i want to do that to a truck with a few 100 miles help!if i do deciede to do 4/6 will i have problems with 22" tires

a 4/6 drop is gonna probably put you a lot closer to the ground than u want. I'm sure u could get som de-arched rear leaf springs and do the 2/4 drop.

i have 22's on my 02 and they rub the plastic liners a little when turning. i also noticed that some point in time in my fast driving that i must have rubbed the tire on the wheels well and shaved a bit or rubber off lol oh well. as for the drop i would do a 2/4 unless you are gonna bag it so u can raise it back up to drive it. just my 2 cents.

A 4/6 is very easy to use as a daily driver. I have a 3/4 that's quite close to a 4/6 and i never drag frame. Cutting the frame can void warranties, but talk to a few dealers first to see they say. Done properly the frame is actually stronger than before. I recommend McGaughy's, they seem to be on top right now in terms of quality and keeping the truck as stock as possible.

You can always go the 3/4, 3/5 look if your concerned about clearance on the roads. You can fit 22's without hitting the fenderwell if fitted properly with proper back spacing, you will have to trim the front valence though.
