puting a 500 c.i in my 88 fleetwood brougham

hey guys. I was wondering would my engine bay be big enough for me to drop in a cadillac 500 c.i in there and not have to make to many dramatic changes? right now i have a 307 c.i v8 in there and it sucks. so i was wondering if i could do that.

Im not 100% sure on the 500 but why dont you put a hopped up 350 in there instead. Your waste less gas and possibly have the same or even more hp. Try to get a 350 with something around 300 horses and see what that does. You are going to need a new tranny too which might mean a new driveshaft if the tranny is longer or shorter.

what type of tranny would be best. something like that th350, or like a 700 r4 out of like a i roc or something like that?

Well Im sure you want something that bolts right in and doesnt consist of fabricating new braces and brackets and all that. But if you dont mind about doing that then maybe a turbo 350 or 400 trans would give you the right stuff. Ofcourse you will most likely need a new drive shaft if you get a different trans. But Ide measure it out before going and buying a new drive shaft.

If your going as far as a new driveshaft why not throw a posi rear in there with some nice gears and a set of street slicks.
