Re: Overreaction to a book

When Muhammad took over Mecca he destroyed statues of about 300 gods that were being worshipped by the people there. Dutch protestants in the mid 1500's (i think) went throughout churches destroying paintings and statues of biblical figures because they thought. Ever heard of the Spanish Inquisition? (Not that it was the only one) Things like that have been happening for a long time, people destroying religious artifacts and tools of worhsip is nothing new.

It seems very hypocrytical to me the outrage felt towards a possible (note I said possible) mistreatment of their holy scripture when this type of behavior and worse has been going towards Christian Holy Scriptures for years by those that condemn this behavior. Yes, respect is earned but respect does not appear to be what they're after. So when the world looks on to see this type of behavior and the respect for their "faith" is lost then who suffers? Not the ones who are carrying on like children. They care nothing for our respect. The ones that loose are the ones that honorably carry on their faith. Those people are the ones who should be condemning the fools who bring dishonor to their faith.

Re: Overreaction to a book

What these people look for is something to whine and complain about. Sometimes it is made up stuff just to give them a reason to complain.

Its a freaking mass produced book that wasn't even flushed down a toilet. I sure wish I had that toilet it would save me time in plunging mine all the time.

I wholeheartedly agree about mindset differences, but.... Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! The Iranians know exactly how to go about doing things there?

Everybody's out to look after their own interests, Iran included. Probably the most dangerous of the Islamic states at the moment. E.g., What would Iran need a nuclear program for?

Yes, absolutely correct! Most recently, the Taliban blew up the giant Buddha.

Ignorance (followed by intolerance) is most dangerous in the hands of zealots in power. Even within the Christian umbrella of churches. E.g., Ignorance of Catholics' practice of praying "through" or for "intercession by" saints and The Blessed Mother. When seen/observed by others, it is THEN swiftly misinterpreted as praying "to" them (a contradiction to the First Commandment).

Interpretation is another dangerous tool in the hands of zealots. When Mohammed declared that no other prophets shall come after him, some believed that no more prophets would be born after him, but the accepted interpretation, to-date, is that no other religions must be practiced in Saudi Arabia.

What I have always found most perplexing is that Jews, Muslims and Christians all worship the same God, though in different ways and practices, often interwoven with cultural/regional/ideological nuances. Ignorance of the others' practices and beliefs is often followed by intolerance. Then again, there are those who skip the ignorance aspect altogether and go straight to intolerance.

Because of the massive ammounts of electricity they use...they obviously are having trouble getting the ammount of energy they need here is some information taken from the cia world factbook:
Electricity - production: 129 billion kWh (2002)
Electricity - consumption: 119.9 billion kWh (2002)

No electricity is imported, they have a massive ammount of oil and natural gas...that is why they need nuclear power, they cant get it from anywhere else...jeez what do you think they want weapons or something? Dont we trust the Russians?

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/...k/geos/ir.html
theres the cia world factbook in case someone wants to look.

*EDIT* Since often people mistake me for being serious, im being sarcastic.
