Re: honda, what the ****
Yeah it can haul 1100 lbs. so what? The dakota can haul 1700. The dakota and colorado call themselves midsize trucks. Besides, my main argument was that they are ugly. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Re: honda, what the ****
See, I don't understand you people...
Ugly, so? If it is ugly, that's only your opinion, no one point a gun at your head to force you buy it. It's none of your business if it is ugly. And what really counts in a vehicle is its usefulness, not the look. For those who buy these vehicle, they are not looking at a Ferrari, and they know that. Because they want something that will be useful to them, not a show car. For those of you who think the outlook is more important than the actual use of the vehicle, I would highly recommend you to buy a nice looking car and try to haul 5 people where the car has only 2 seats. As I've said in another thread before, if you want a car to show off, you can take any car to do it, but just take off your pants and open wide the door to show off. I'm sure you get a lot more attention than driving an Exotic sports car.

Re: honda, what the ****
You are right. It is just an opinion. Also, I believe that usefullness and looks should go hand in hand together in todays cars.
I never said the element or ridgeline weren't useful, just ugly.

Re: honda, what the ****

Read the part and watch the video about the ridgeline vs f150. " the Ridgeline will actually outaccelerate the 5.4L F150 to 60mph in a 5000lb towing duel. On the roll, the Ridgeline did seem to hold the edge in terms of merging power, but I have no instrumented figures to back that up. When it came time to steer the rig, the Ridgeline definitely held the edge in terms of stability, with basically none of the lateral instability that the F150 exhibited. I was hesitant to go much faster than maybe 45-50mph around the long turns with the trailer, not knowing the limits of the trailer's lateral grip, but the Ridgeline felt extremely stable at these cornering speeds." Man it seems like the Ridgeline got crushed. Hardly. |

"Word has it that the Ridgeline will actually outaccelerate the 5.4L F150 to 60mph in a 5000lb towing duel, but that feat was not demonstrated to us, so that will remain a rumor for now."
That was taken out of that article. Where was this video?

Re: honda, what the ****
The Ridgeline is closest to a "concept" truck in production yet. That's really all that there is to it.
I say, take the old with the new. the Corvette was new and weird in '53. Who knows exactly where the idea came from to make a car like that, but is an icon now. |

Re: honda, what the ****
My point was less about a particular car, and more related to an openness to new ideas.
The Public wasn't necessarily ready for the Corvette in '53. The idea of a small, fiberglass-bodied car didn't fare well- sales in '53-'54 weren't all that good. Why? I'm guessing that a small car then didn't fit our ideas about what a status vehicle should have been. Then, bigger meant more advanced, more luxurious, more expensive. TheCorvette was initially introduced as an "affordable" car, and the use of fiberglass was intended to cut initial tooling and build costs. In the early 50's, the Corvette was an innovation that wasn't all that well received. It took the performance of an overhead valve, fuel-injected V8 for people to catch on to what the 'Vette was all about. Now, almost everyone knows what the Corvette is a bout, and what it stands for. NO, a blocky, unibody 4-door truck isn't a Corvette...it never will be. It probably won't ever even be considered "Classic", but it is a definitive step towards where most other passenger trucks wiil be soon heading. |

My two cents is basically this, yes it's ugly as ugly as an Avalanche or Escalade! The Element is ugly yes as ugly as a Scion (the box one) and whatever GM, Ford, Chrysler, and Nissan will answer with. Buick Rendezvous were extremely ugly and look at anything made by Cadillac and Nissan their entire line-ups are ugly. Now given the choice of a brand new F150 or a Honda Ridgeline, F150 hands down more truck better looking just plain better. As far as the Ridgeline goes it's a great truck for people who hate trucks, my fear is that it will sell and that Ford, GM, Chrysler and even Toyota, and Nissan will say "Hey we can make a gay truck too." and all trucks will become front drive based (Yes I know all wheel, I mean transverse engine etc.) and there will be no more trucks for those of us who love trucks. PS. I love being able to tell the American and Japanese biases from truck posts, American biased people forget that Toyota and Nissan make good fullsize trucks to compare with the Honda as well I'd buy a Titan or Tundra before a Ridgeline anyday. Though I think the Titan is almost as ugly as stated before it's usefullness makes it better than the Ridgeline. To the Japanese biased posters I say when you bash fullsize SUVs like Tahoes, Expeditions and the like don't forget the models from Toyota and Nissan as well.
