Clutch adjustment???????

I have a 1999 Honda Civic DX. I replaced the pressure plate, clutch, and flywheel to a XTD stage 3 setup with a light weight flywheel and a "pad" or "puck" type design clutch. With the old clutch being VERY worn it engaged about 2 inches from being all the way out. After I finished and bled the clutch I drove it and it engaged at the same spot as the worn clutch. I was told by some guy I was supposed to adjust something in the tranny before I put it back together because it was a racing clutch and not a stock replacement. What do I do? how do I adjust this thing or if that guy was wrong what do I do??????? Please help!
