Question 83 celica st swaps--specific

was wonderin if anyone out there knew what would be the best engine swap for the 83 ST...it has the 22r, but im gonna want somethin i can use to get much better power for a good sleeper. i live in the land of mustangs, so i need to make sure i stay on top. thanks to anyone who can help me. money is no problem, but i need to keep it legal, cause texas laws suck. not as bad as cali, but bad.

Well in those Gens it seems like you could try just about any motor if money is no problem. here in Cali, there is a shop that has put many motors in them. If you are looking for some straight line power try getting a 2JZ-GTE motor. You'll need to beef up the suspension like you would with the 7M swap, you can try and get some celica supra (just so you know that car is called Selicasprings from the similiar years to compensate the squat that will come from those engines. It's more difficult to do since you'll need to change the front a bit due to the lack of space. There are also the 3SGTE many people have made 400hp with them if built properly. But if you really want the power go for the 2JZGTE, it's much more difficult but for straight line purposes it will serve you the best. Go to toysport.com I'm pretty sure you can have them make a kit to do the swap if you need to.
