head swap

is it possible to swith the head off of a 98 zx2 and put it on a 98 2.0 sohc from an lx. i am trying to make my car a dohc if it is possible

No! they are not compatable. The block design and the cam arrangement do not allow the heads to be swapped. Look for a used DOHC engine and wiring harness. That would be the easiest way to change the engine in the car.

but if you want to DOHC your escort here is some tips:

the 1.9-2.0 sohc tranny will fit on the 2.0 ze-tec dohc engine perfect! with the swap of the flywheel that came with the tranny off of old sohc engine and all the motor mounts will swap and fit. You will need to get the zx2 altanator and whole 98-99 2.0 Zetec engine assy and fuel rail the 2nd-3rd Gen sohc computer ECU will work too! just a little cutting of 4-5 harnesses
and you must relocate the crank sensor on the flywheel
