98+ High beams and Lows, both on

Ive seen kits for this. too cheap to spend the money if someone has the wiring diagram. It would be much appreciated. I want to turn on my brights but i want my lows to stay on also.

an idea on that would be to dissconnect britelight wires from dimmer switch and hook them up to a toggle or push button switch. dies that sound like it would work?
sounds easy. not foresure if it would work. with a seperate switch you could turn them on and off as you wish. look into it and see what you think.

hi beam is a lt green wire. runs from light to dimmer switch and then to hi beam indicator light in dash. low beam is a tan wire from lights to dimmer switch.

Just a thought, but wouldn't hooking up a nice set of pojector lights or flood lights on a toggle switch do the same thing. And if you do it right it'll actually make your truck look better.

I'd be worried about hooking a toggle switch to the bright light wire. The light switches and wires burn out to often on their own. And you might help them burn out faster. If you do decide to use this method be sure to use head light relays to minimize the chance of burning anything out

Thanks for the reccomendations. If i hooked up a switch in the dash for my highs then i would have to wire a relay or i would be running quite a bit of power through a switch at my fingertips. stylin concepts has a kit for this mod on s 10s and full size trucks. Its 50 bucks so maybe i just spend the extra money for there relay and diagrams and hook it up IAW the kits specs.

The problem is that our harness' are not designed for that kind of load. I've seen cars burn up because of that (not often but it does happen) Get the kit. Comes with the relays and a heavy duty harness.

Where I live probably 90% of the car fires are in GM products.
And out of them all most is because of the wiring.

Although I only see about 2 burnt out cars a year

I said like a ford truck. Ford had a recall on a bunch of there trucks cause a relay kept getting moisture and shorting out and causing a fire. Im just not a big fan of ford. Never have been, never will be. so yeah back to the matter at hand. does anyone know of someone whos done this. is it just a straight wiring harness swap or whats all involved?

I just remembered seeing that done on some old popular mechanics book, with a 1955 copyright.

You might want to look it up, the principles should be the same but use relays to go with it. And only buy quality parts

I would hate to see you spend a bundle on a piece of paper and $20.00 or less of parts

I could probably find the book again and scan it for you, but who knows when I'll see it next. It's in my mom's house and she doesn't keep the place very neat.

Another thing that no one has mentioned is that your alternator might have to be upgraded because you'll basicly be running double the power to the headlights when you have the brights on.
