Alice in Chains.

Wow. I haven't listened to much of there songs before, I never really knew much about them. I have heard "rooster" before, liked it, but I never knew who actually sang it. Found out today, downloaded it, and I was reading the lyrics while I listened, the song is(in a way)beautiful. I never fealt the way I did when after the chorus, the songs starts getting faster&harder, after "they've come to snuff the rooster" part"you know he ain't gonna die!". Yea, I guess this post was kind of useless.
Anyone else here like Alice in Chains? And what do you guys think about there CDs? Its too bad there vocalist died in 2002. Recently, the singer from The peferct circle has played with them a few times and to benifit for the Tsunami in Asia. Oh well, in a way I feel like I missed some awesome music because Layne Staley is gone forever. When they placed in 2005, it was the first time they played for over 6 years.

Alice In Chains have always been one of my favorite bands, and always will be. I was in a state of shock for a long while after Laynes death. Actually their music never left my cd player for about 3 months following. I recommend all of their cds. Each has a little bit different sound, but all distintinctivly Alice In Chains.

RIP Layne Staley

Re: Alice in Chains.

I've been a long time Alice in Chains fan. They started out localy here in washington state, and as a matter of fact my uncle taught their guitar player (Jerry Cantrell) to play lead. That was years ago before Alice in Chains had started, still pretty damn cool that my uncle used to jam with him though.

Re: Alice in Chains.

I also have been a long time fan of the band. My favorites are "Angry Chair", "Grind", "What the Hell Have I?", and "Again." I also like Jerry's solo work outside of the band. I was surprised to find one day that my daughter shares the same date of birth as Layne Staley.(August 22)

Holy shit man, I was thinking/wondering the same thing.
The "they spit on me in my home land", a lot of people did not agree on the war and why we were in Vietnam in the first place.

They mention machine gunners also, which had to do with a lot of casualties in the war.

Gloria sends him pictures of his boy.

"army green was no safe bet".

The bullets scream to me from somewhere. Again, the Guerilla warfare&tactics and the incredible amount of fog they had you could barely see a thing at some times.

Pills for musquito death. It was very humid in Vietnam, and many complained about musquitos when they arrive.

Another reason I thought is because World war 1&2 was before there time.

What do you think?

And if I sounded retarded, I am not, I tried not to be also.

Re: Alice in Chains.

Yes the song "Rooster" was written by Jerry Cantrell about his father's experiences in Vietnam.
