Exclamation a 455 in a 73 omega

i need some help...well atually my friend does. he's an owner of a 1973 Olds omega and he is lookin to put in a 455BB in his car. he just wants to know what mods does he have to do to the car. he has a 350 that came from a cutlass. the 455 he is getting comes with a 12bolt posi rear end and he wants to know if all this is a good idea. What problems will he run into. we know the left side header clears the power steer by less then a 1/4 and he is going to cut out the whole A/C sysptem to make room for the right side..........well any help we can get will be gladly appriciated. well hope to get some good advise from u guys.

Unfortunately that is not true. The size of the 455 is much greater than that of a 396. You will need to first find out if the 73 Omega came with an option for the Olds 350. If it did than you are on your way. The only real difference between the Olds 360 and 455 is the height. They are basically the same size when measured out side to out side. You will also need to know the year of the 455. These vary greatly as to exhaust setups as well as performance issues. Once he gets the engine info he will need to check one of the actual Olds sites to find out ie: heads, block etc. There might also be an issue with regards to motor mounts. As for A/C, if the car came with it and the 350 was an option that year than more likely than not, the 455 will work without having to remove the A/C. In addition the Omega never could be ordered with 455. It does not bolt in.
