Air conditioner turns on automatically
Air conditioner turns on whenever car started with the climate control set to front defrost or off position.
I recently purchased a 2001 Aurora and regardless of the outdoor/indoor temperature, in both winter and now spring, the air conditioner turns on whenever the car is started with the climate control knob set to the front windshield or the off position. Has anyone else had this problem come up? I can't imagine this is a deliberate feature built into the Aurora. Any help greatly appreciated. john47825

My 99' does the same thing.....but no matter what I do. EX: I'll hit the auto button (that turns climate control on), and even if it's -10 out and I have the temp set to 80 --- AC turns on.

it is suposed to come on...my aurora did it too and it pissed me off...i looked in to manual and it says something about it doing that to make sure the window gets defrosted or something...i cant remeber exactly.

Airconditioners have been set to operate when the defrosters are turned on as long as I have been alive. The premise is that the A/C removes the moisture from the vehicle interior and that is what causes the windows to fog up.
