Hard Starting 4.3L Vortec 1993 S10 Blazer.

This vehicle used to be a snappy starter. Now it's a hard starter requiring lots of time before the engine starts. It tries to start but if it doesn't catch, it requires up to 30 seconds before it finally starts. Took it to the dealer and had the fuel pump and filter replaced along with having the CPI checked for cracks. Problem not fixed. Took it back several times to get it fixed (no charge) but they keep telling me they can't find any problem. No codes. Problem shows up mostly when the vehicle has been run awhile (operating temperature) and then sits for an hour. Any thoughts as to what the problem might be? Vehicle has 134K miles/ no engine work done. TIA.

Same problem

I have exactly the same problem. My truck starts fine in the morning, but when it's warmed up, like I run into a store or something, I try to start it and it cranks, and cranks, and cranks and finally starts. Sometimes the rpms race up to 2000 then settle back down. I just tried a new fuel pressure regulator, but I'm not sure that fixed it yet. '94 S-10 4.3L TBI.

Here's something you might want to check, I have seen it several times.

Pull your distributor cap and look inside of it. If you see a brown film, your bushings in the distributor are gone. Check the shaft for side to side play.

I have changed a few of these with this problem, it's an easy fix, just got to get a new distributor.

do a tuneup, clean the EGR, replace the fuel filter and air filter

Check your cpi injector and nut kit for leaking.

use the search for information on them.
