i just purchase one , runs great. i was told i need to replace timeing belt , it has 104,00 miles on it . i was told the belt is good for about 80,000 miles is this true ??? thanks

Not knowing the engine size 100,000 is either over, or pushing the limit.......my recommendation would be to change it.
I also recommend changing the waterpump, it may save you doing the job over.

Actually Ford recommends 200,000km / 160,000miles. I verified this by phoning the customer service. I also believe it is now listed in their maintenance list they have a the dealership.

I also believe it is now listed in their maintenance list they have a the dealership. well this very helpfull info. i have a split port induction 2000, motor., i have goton 2 estimates to replace water pump, & timming belt , one was 250.00$ , the second 205.00$, i have not yet had it done , so any further info would be welcomed , thanks car dummy.

I get mine changed every 100,000 Km. For $ 150 (canadian) I think it's a good investment.
