Hey guys, My Bronco has been parked for nearly 2 years, Yesterday we started it up & it is makeing a knocking noise inthe engine, It sounds like thown rod... So I need some help...

How much would it cost to rebuild my Tansmission & Engine?

Would it be cheaper to buy a 5.0 HO Mustang Engine And Tranny & Drop it in?

If your truck has been sitting that long then you may just have a sticky lifter. I would run some good detergent oil through it and see if that helps. Or you could also add a quart of trans fluid to the engine.

Well, the main poblem is the knocking, What are some good detergent oil brands? And where can I get it?

As far as the transmission, its leaking, so we might have to just replace a seal or gasket

Anybody elses input? We're taking it to a shop to let them look at us & tell us whats wrong, and get an estimate.

You can check for a thrown rod by using a length of hose/broom handle/prybar as a stethoscope. Place it low on the block (Like where the connecting rods are) and have a listen for the thump. You use the 'implement' to get a better idea of where the noise is coming from.

I don't know about detergent Oil-but I have used Z-Max, and it cleared up my smokey-running BII (1985) for about 6 months. It's a bit pricey at $40-$50 per treatment, but I did notice a difference. When I first bought the thing, I left a trail of noticeable smoke for about a quarter-mile. After I used it, it was gone. When the smoke returned, I was going to do it again, but I sold the thing.

It even has an endorsement from Carrol Shelby, so don't take my word for it.

yea, it puffs of a blueish smoke, LIke I said, the Truck hasn't been running in 2 years
