BFG or Bridgestone Tires?

Im in the market for a new set of tires for my 93 Pickup, and I was thinking either the BFG All Terrain Tires, or the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Tires. Im a little strapped for cash, because I just had the suspension done, and these were the tires that fit my budget. Both are $133 a Tire at Costco, so thats where I think im going to go. What do you think, are any of these tires good for both offroad and on, and how long do you think they will last?

For the best tire go with Yokahoma Geolander AT's. They are at Tirerack.com for $89/tire(31's) plus shipping/mounting. Call around your local tire shops to see if they stock this tire or are willing to order. They are cheaper and a far superior tire than either of the two you mentioned. If you decide not to go with the Geolanders - I would pick the BFG's. My two cents. Good luck.

I really like the BFG AT. I just put them on my 01 double cab and they work real well on highway or in the woods. I have a buddy that got 70K out of his last set with proper rotation and balancing. From all the reviews I have read most people think they are a great AT.

If those are your two choices then I have to ask exactly what your looking for before giving my opinion. Although both of those tires labeled as "A/T" the BFG will perform much better in the dirt than the Bridgestone. I have extensive experience with both of those tires and I do think they are both great. However the Dueler A/T is much more street oriented which isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on your wants/needs.

The BFG A/T's I have had in the past have lasted not longer than 50-60K where as the Duelers I had lasted me almost 90K. They key to long tire life is a good alignment and frequent rotation. Another thing to consider is that BFG M/T's last nearly as long as the A/T's if you take care of them and they work phenomenal in the dirt.

I do not have any personal experience with the Geolanders but I know some people like them a lot.

I really like the BFG MT but have seen that the soft rubber does not last when driven on the highway. I have only seen the MT get 30K out of highway miles. If your gonna be in the mud they are great but I went with the AT because I drive it as a daily driver too.

FWIW, I have BFG M/T's with about 50K on them now and they still have some good life left. That is typical of my experiences with the M/T in the past also. If I rotated them more frequently I could have easily squeaked more life from them too. They really do last very well considering how great they are off-road.

I have been wanting to try a set of those Geolander M/T's for awhile now, so you've tried them and had good luck then?

I currently have the 31 X 10.50 MT+'s. They are my first set with about 10K miles on a '93 4X4. All of my buddies use the A/T's and all of them swear by them. We all beat them up in the mountains and they perform well. My only complaint with the M/T's is that they are loud on the road, but that is to be expected with any M/T. IMO is just comes down to personal opinion.

I ordered a set of Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors. They don't even make the size for my truck yet, but should be by the end of the month. Hopefully, they've already bumped it back a month.

But they're built just like the Wrangler MT's, six plies, just not as aggressive tread on them, but still very competent. They're supposed to be quiet too, which you won't get with the MT's. Got a pretty good deal with an out of the box special. Well, that and the fact that I paid cash for them, the guy cut me a really good deal. $760 for everything. Now I'm just waiting...
