Re: 19" Rims throw off SPEEDO????

Speedo gear ratio is defined by wheel diameter. If that changes, the speedo 'output' changes accordingly.

Compare stock dia to those u buy and calculate offset; u have to measure both with tape. (Even with same tire size codes, difference could be 10% between diff. mfg.)

use this: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html.
it'll tell you how much your speedo's off by.

my 19" rims w/ low profile tires threw my speedo off by .5 mph @60, so when my speedo says 60 i'm doing 59.5 mph

Re: 19" Rims throw off SPEEDO????

it depends on how big your stock rims and tires are. i had 225/50-17's and went to 19's with low profiles so the overall diameter of the wheel and tire wasn't too far off from stock, if you have stock 15's or 16's you'll probably be off by a bit more.

As everyone else here said, if you keep you overall diameter the same, or similar, you should have no speedo problems. Like my stock wheel is 17", and I had a 55 profile tire on it. When I got 19's, I got a 35 profile tire.
