i called up a pontiac dealer and priced some new lenses for all of my lights. everything including labor came up to about $1,000.00 dollars. is there some type of chemical solution that can take the cloudiness out of the plastic. my lenses are dull and i want to make them clear and transluscent again.

the only complications arrise when you are trying to polish lenses that are textured or have paint on them. even those paint polishing compounds will work. I used the meguiars paint "scratch and haze" polish on the gauge lenses on my '68 firebird- restored them to like new. |

3m makes a polish specifically for this, comes in a small black bottle, bought one at a Napa store myself. |

Re: how do restore my plastic lenses
get a polisher and meguires plastic x.
i personally use the colman polisher that i got at walmart for $14. if they are really nasty and the polish doesnt give you the result you want, get some 2000 grit wetsand paper, use that and then the polish. we did that to the headlights, foglights and turn signals on my prelude and they look brand new again. did the same for my friends formula and got the same result. good luck. EDIT: PATIENTS is key here. press too hard and you can burn the plastic causing a lot more work. just take your time and it will come out good. |
