Here's an idea for a meet: Your 1:1 car in scale!

I've done my old Monte Carlo as well, but the 1:24 version looked about as crappy as the real one. So here's my good r/l car and my good 1:24 version!

Great idea. Where can I get a 1988 Toyota Camry?

My dad has a Gen 1 RX-7 and I got the Tamiya model to do it, and it has the right trim level, but I have to do some work to it: Move the mirrors, remove the rear seat (The Japanese must be SMALL), make his wheels, and convert it to LHD (I'll just swap dashes, since the kit dash doesn't match his even in RHD).

Hey,

John, I know I've seen your caprice/impala before, but what rims did you use on the scale version? I love those caprice/impalas! Please pm me if you have more pics of the 1:1. I need a new pinup on my wall

Oh yea, the thread topic...I want to make my baja. But there is so much body mods I'd have to do to a legacy. Anyone want to take up this project? Please? Ill pay and no more. Well, maybe a little more. Depending on the quality:-D

Re: Here's an idea for a meet: Your 1:1 car in scale!

Hehe I don't think I've seen a Baja model. It'd certainly be a helluv a kit bash... maybe the ass end of a g-body El Camino kit?

The wheels on my 9c1 are from Modelhaus.com, I believe they're the only suppliers who carry them. Pretty expensive getting them up to Canada, but worth it. To make a 9c1 from an Impala:

1. Wheels
2. Paint the hoses green
3. grind off the spoiler and smooth it out to a normal trunklid
4. Gold bowtie on the trunklid instead of the Impy symbol (missing on my car, I'll get around to it)
5. Chroming the grille, if you're keeping the grille chrome (mine's black of course.)
6. Paint the interior with a Caprice colour instead of the Impy's tan.

Building the kit actually cost more than I bargained for; Caprices have the "First Base" engine cover and the "1st base" are silencer and all that crap, but most people remove it. Mine's a homemade cold air induction with both of those piecse removed, so I figure I'd just have to cobble together the induction--WRONG. The LT1 in the Revell Impy kit is terrible, the lifter valley just has two big gaping tubes in it that hold the "1st Base" engine cover on top, so there's no genuine intake manifold!! ... As a result, I had to buy a whole other kit (cuz I had no spare LT1s), a '93 Camaro so I could scoop the LT1. So in all, I had to buy a two $20 model kits, an $8 can of paint, and about $20 for the wheels from Modelhaus after shipping. whew

I think I've posted this before, but here it comes again... my '92 MX-5. The model was converted from Tamiya Eunos Roadster. I had to modify the dashboard from RHD to LHD, make the rear licence place recess to wider euro style and then I added some details here and there (rear foglight, daytime driving lights in front, licence plates etc).

Awesome build mel! I think the paint on the model might even look nicer than the road car

Yes it is a 69 camaro and i was kidding about not being able to find a model of it. There are plenty. Maybe i'll build one of my car at some point but i'm too busy building them the way i want my car to be instead.

Hey Joeham,

If you had to pick, which of your models would you have as your 1:1? lol...and you can only pick one...

Well, I want to do my 1st car. 1991 geo storm, white. I know there is a promo. I need to repaint the one I have tho. Something keeps getting messed up in the paint. Neet to clean the body better.
