1989 750IL Should I buy?

I am considering purchase of a 1989 750IL with 76,000 miles, verified.
Car is mint. Bottom line is I don't have any experience with 12 cylinder engines. Am I getting into a potential money pit? I want this to be a casual daily driver, mostly interstate and country roads.
Any "heads up" as to potential problems would be appreciated.
Thanks
RN

Re: 1989 750IL Should I buy?

If it comes with full service history and the undercarriage is bone dry I would go for it. The V12s are very reliable if they are serviced and treated right. Make sure the temp gauge is right at 12 and does not change even after idling for a while.
Go to e38.org and then click on E32 for more info on buyer's guide.

I would say go for it. It is hard to find that car with that little miles. These things last for a long long time....Im talkin 300+k. Very good engines. I have an 89 750il and it is still more advanced than most of the cars on the market. Not even my friends 2005 745 has power backseats like this car. These are sooo smooth and have lots of power. Treat it right and itll treat you right. Good daily driver. These cars like to be drivin. The engine is not as much of a problem as is tubing and crap like that. Power steering pumps go out somewhere around 150,000 miles....and sometimes the mustard relay needs to be re-soldered after 125,000+ miles...Take into consideration that this car was worth a ton of money when it was brand new in 89...That means that its a solid car for the money now...And if you can get a good price..Buy it i would say.
