94 Aerostar Airbag light flashes

My air bag light has started to flash. It flashes three times in a row followed by a brief pause. This keeps going as long as the car is on. Also, my amp light stays on although the battery seems to be perfectly charged. Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated. Mahalo!

My air bag light flashes also. I've found that there is a plastic wiring box almost directly under the steering column that contains a circuit board. If I detach the protective plastic box and let it dangle, the air bag light goes out. Also, when the airbag light is "on" my horn and cruise control (both have their controls mounted on steering wheel) do not work either. When the box (complete with circuit board and hooked up wiring) are dangling, everything works again. I believe I have a broken wire or bad ground/solder connection somewhere on/leading to that circuit board but have been unable to locate it yet.

What you have is a clockspring faliure.

These are the basic instructions:
Disconnect battery Let sit for at least an hour to discharge current,
Remove airbag (deep 8 or 10 mm socket req'd) carefully unplugging wire connector, Remove steering wheel and steering column cover (left side). Do the steering wheel slowly and carefully, it's aluminum and the puller can pull the threads right out of the holes before the wheel comes free. Unplug the upper wires from the spring. Unscrew the screws holding the clockspring in place. Unplug the other end of the clockspring wires from under the dash. (Follow the harness) Remove the clockspring. You may have trouble with the wire leading to the ignition switch, (it is the "Left Key In" alarm sensing connection). Wind up the replacement spring as indicated on the front of the unit. Reverse procedure to install.
