spark plugs
I have a 94 Areostar 4L awd, I was wondering how in the world do you get at the spark plugs to change them?

96 4.0 Spark Plug Replacement
Yours may be different or the same, however, with my 96 4.0 the job was not fun! I had 100,000 miles and the mechanic scared me saying I could break a plug in the threads, it was a long tough job, etc.
I jacked up the front end, took off the tires, and began to take out the passenger side plugs first. I also took off the engine cover to access the back. My passenger side was okay with typical tools. I replaced the plugs. The drivers side is a bitch!, but, doable. The plug closest to the driver is the worst. The engineer(s) who had their hand in this design were either drunk or on something. I found my body can bend more ways than I thought and my hands actually are longer than Gumby's. I finally finished and now can speak in multiple cussing languages as the wife turned up the stereo in the garage to muffle my music at the words I was choosing for those engineers. After many minor scraps on my knuckles, I even decided to add new plug wires! Today it starts just like knew. When I come upon another Aerostar next to me on the road, I yell over at the passenger window (as if the guy in his Aerostar can hear me) and say very loudly, "YEAH, I CHANGED MY OWN PLUGS, HAVE YOUR EVER TRIED" beating my chest!! Good luck and be patient and replace with antifreeze on the plugs. I did, but I really don't intend on doing this again. I did break one plug rubber cap because I got ticked and twisted too hard. |

Ya have fun is the word I heard from the garage. I had the dealer do mine at 150K. Found out at 300K that they didn't do the drivers side just changed the wires but charged me for the plugs. The 150 side didn't look too bad. The poor local guy did a hail mary trying to get them out. Did them all or should I say the newbie did them.
