Re: I need new speakers

.... ok, there are a few things we need from you:

-- Budget
-- What size are the stock speakers? (6.5", 6x9, 4x6, etc)
-- Do you need a new head unit (CD player)
-- Do you want a subwoofer and amp
-- Are you willing to do installation and box building work, or are you just going to tell a shop what we tell you

Other people may have other questions, but those cover the basics.

--edit-- dang, you're fast.

--edit-- dang, you're fast.
--Around 60 or70 bucks
--The door speakers are 6" round,I have 2temporary speakers on the rear deckfrom an old sony boombox with detatchable speakers.I spliced them up to the headrest speaker wires because they were cut on the driver side and the passenger ones suck balls.
--I just got a new Panasonic CQ-C1101U head unit.
--No subs because 1.)I would sacrifice trunk space which I need.2.)i want to be able to hear when im 30.
--I can do some splicing of wires
The temporary speakers are decent but big(they are from like 1990)so i cant take the top down and they are always rolling around.I want to know what 2-way,3-way,and 4-way speakers are.

Re: I need new speakers

Ok, then I'd suggest a coaxial from one of the brands listed in the good or highly recommended sections of the "start of a newbie thread" sticky.

2-way etc is in reference to the number of different speakers in a coaxial speaker. 2-ways for example have a midrange woofer and a tweeter. 3-ways have a woofer, tweeter and super tweeter. Anything more than that is pretty much a gimmick, but I shouldn't be talking because I have a 4-way . www.crutchfield.com is where I got my stuff, and they're a bit expensive, but have great customer support and lots of useful free things they give away with what you buy. They should also be able to tell you exactly what size speaker you need for your car. Other people here may have other suggestions for you too.

A 70 dollar budget is kinda small for 2 pairs of speakers... a good pair will run that much. A pair might be all you need for a car that size anyway.

Re: I need new speakers

just because you have a sub doesnt mean you have to have it wangin full tilt all the time. SR20 has a wangin set up but he is an SQ nerd and never pushes it near its limit...lol well anyway a sub is there for a reason, not just to be loud.

Re: I need new speakers

I think anything past two ways are a gimmic, I mean who gets two kinds of tweeters? Well... I might lol but my stock tweeters are 2.5" so they aren't exactally your average tweeters.
