Decal softener?
Is this the stuff that softens the decal and makes it conform to the shape of the object being decalled?
http://www.hlj.com/product/GNZMS-232 Also do you need any other liquid for the job? Thanks.

Re: Decal softener?
No, That is Decal Set, It sets the decal inplace. You need the solution stuff. You might want to do a search to get more info. Thats how I Learned.

Re: Decal softener?
Microsol is decal softener, microset sets the decal like the stuff in your link.

That's the setting solution. You put this down on the surface you want to decal before putting the decal on. Then you paint some "Mr. Mark Softener", "Microsol", etc. on the decal which will make the decal conform to the irregular surface.
Doesn't look like HLJ sells Mr. Mark Softener however, if you want to get something from HLJ, this'll probably do the trick (though I haven't used this before). |

All you need is Mr. Mark Softer. It does the job great all by it's self... - Mark

I've had no problems what so ever with Microsol on any brand of decals! Just don't use it when it's not necessary as it can wrinkle a decal applied to a flat surface never to get flat and even again! Trust me I've tried that one to Niclas Edit: You can get Microscales product's at MJ-Hobbyexperten just click "provhandla" and then "gästkund" and search around for Microscale, they go for 37 SEK a piece. The site is somewhat hard to navigate but it's there if you are persistent |

Re: Decal softener?
Well, f**k me with a knobbly piece of styrene! It's so funny how this site is a source of many contradicting answers!!! I remeber reading on this site never to use microsol on tamiya decals as it will ruin them! Glad I now find out they're okay - not long till I'm putting my decals on my Focus WRC 01.
Many thanks for correcting my stupidity! |

Those that say it don't work it's because they don't know how to use Microsol. Yes, Tamiya decal react more than other decal to Microsol, but if you apply it and leave it dry (as you always should) it work perfectly. If you start to play with it, then YOU will ruin the Decal. It's not microsol, it's the user that ruin it.

Re: Decal softener?
You guys should try Microsol/set on Hasegawa-decals,`cause they don´t react to anything..
( unless you let the decal literally swim in solution )

Re: Decal softener?
No matter what decals or type of softening solution used, you need to test compatibility first. Microsol will eat some Tamiya decals, other times it will have virtually no effect. Blanket generalisations will always have exceptions. Test first and be sure!
