'60 ft. times and mph, is there a relation?

I'm curious to know if there is a direct relation to your 60' times and your trap speed? I've heard of cars similair to mine with approx. 30-50 less HP at the wheels trap better mph in the 1/4. These cars all had better tires than i did, thus much better 60' ft. than i did. I've read it in magazines and i just heard about one in another thread in the street racing forum. So is it a fact taht if you get out of the hole quicker ur car will trap faster mph? or am i totally going off into left field? I'm just baffled to see such cars (very similair to mine as far as body style and weight go) trap faster mph. It'd make sense to me if this were true but i figured there were some professionals in here that could give me an explanation...

thanks

Re: '60 ft. times and mph, is there a relation?

I don't know if you can say for sure that there is a rule that the faster 60', the faster trap speed. It all depends on gearing, tires, ect. I mean, a car with super high gearing on his lower gear, and LSD and huge slicks, ect. could get out of the 60' super fast, but then be crawling in his upper gears, and get a low trap speed. It all depends on the vehicle setup. Or a car could be crawling out of the 60', but if he had his upper gears geared higher, he might trap a different speed, ect - there's just lots of different variables.

Yeah alot of variables. Its more then likely gearing and tire diameter that makes the difference.

I think even slicks will effect your trap speed as well (meaning a car will run a fast ET but with a lower then normal trap speed).

It seems opposite to me. Like if you spin your way to a 2.3 60'..your trap speed will be higher.

interesting explanations, ok so basicly it's just how the setup is...no bottom line explanation, to many variables...ok i got it, err understand a little more now heh. thanks guys

Re: '60 ft. times and mph, is there a relation?

60' is realted to your ET, not the MPH.
Your MPH indicates your HP ... that being said, weather you have a great launch or a botched launch your mph should be similar.

It is not unusual that you will run a slightly slower (1-to-2 mph) on your quickest (ET) run. That is simply because you will have less time to make the same mph you typically hit.
