02 Sierra transmission ?

My tranny was jerking one morning. That afternoon the service engine light came on. I went to Autozone and had a diagnosis done...the code refered to shift solenoid B.

Took the truck to the dealership, I was told that it was the ignition switch.

Is there any way that the two are related???

Thanks in advance!

Re: 02 Sierra transmission ?

A bad ignition switch or improperly installed remote starter can cause low voltage conditions at the tranny. This can trigger the code for solenoid B.

Re: 02 Sierra transmission ?

Hello, I have a 99 GMC Safari and I'm having solenoid A problem (1-2 shift malfunction--p0753). I got the part from dealer for $22 but I can't find where the unit is to replace it. Could you help let me know where it is located (inside/out transmission)? Do you know if I can change it myself? Please help.

You have to drop the pan to replace the A or B shift solenoid. This should help: http://www.teckpak-fitzall.com/teckf...ms4l60e_96.pdf

You should make sure the voltage is good at the tranny before replacing it since the ignition switch could also be your problem.
