McLaren F1 in Singapore (Brunei Sultan's ?)

Hi Newbie here,

Not sure if this post is bit late.
A McLaren F1 has surfaced in a Singapore Pagani Showroom . Wonder if it belongs to the Sultan of Brunei. Some speculation in our local forums:

No, it's the one that used to be on display at the showroom in London. Chassis #68. Strangely, it's not for sale. Supposedly, it was purchased to garner publicity--that's one hell of an expensive marketing investment.

hi,

thanks for the replies. I don't mean to sound rude but are u guys just speculating or does the car has unique and distinguishable features which led u to deduce the chassis number?

Sometimes it's that, other times it's just waiting for news on what color cars were spotted where, and owned by whom. The F1 that was in the London showroom was recently sold, and a couple of weeks later a one matching the description showed up in Singapore.

There are only so many F1s out there...it's not like Ferraris where you have 300+ cars all painted the same shade of red

In this case, we have confirmation from the owner of the showroom. He told a friend of mine that it was the "brand new condition with delivery miles only" car that was displayed at the Park Lane showroom in London.

I was also given information from a reliable source that the McLaren from the London showroom was eventually sold to someone in Singapore. It wasn't too long after I received that info that reports and eventually photos of an F1 there surfaced.

Visually, this car is an exact match to #065 and I honestly have no doubts they are one in the same. I'll happily eat crow if someone can produce a set of photos of this car showing the chassis plaque reading something other than #065, but I really doubt that is going to happen.

When it comes to chassis numbers, we do the best that we can with the info we have to work with. We haven't always been accurate, but most of the time we are. I know that I'm fairly hesitant to guess at them now given some past inaccuracies, but I am confident in this one.

Re: McLaren F1 in Singapore (Brunei Sultan's ?)

Firstly, apologies for posting for what has been posted. Guess I didn't read further back into the past postings. Still, I thought I provide the link :

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...8&page=2&pp=15

Of interesting note is another car in the showroom, a RHD CLK-GTR ( the only RHD) which was reportedly owned by the sultan of brunei. This led me to speculate that the F1 was the brunei sultan's.

Also, any info on the McLaren F1 parked in the private showroom of Hong Seh Motors ( Singapore's ferrari dealer) ?

Hang on, you're saying there's two in Singapore? Surely that can't be right. If it is, good find!

It is in the same thread : http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/sho...&page=13&pp=20

I can't confirm it. Its apparently so secret even local car magazine editors dun even know about it. I remembered someone wrote to a local mag, said he saw a McLaren F1 driving ard. The Ed flatly said there was no F1 in Singapore.
That is till we saw the posting. Ahh, the power of the internet !
