Re: 1987 door panel removal
If you push in on the panel and pull out on the handle, you should see a little metal clip that holds the handle on the shaft. Pull the clip off and the handle will come off. When you are ready to reinstall it, put the clip back on the handle then push the handle on the shaft. It will snap back on.

Re: 1987 door panel removal
You're welcome. They are a pain in the ass. I have bent the tip of an ice pick and used it to remove them before. It worked pretty well.

Re: 1987 door panel removal
90 degree needle nose works well also
once you have it off get a piece of sheet metal the thickness of the clip groove and cut it out to make a tool for the clip for future use |

Re: 1987 door panel removal
screw that. before i asked, i ripped off the passenger side with nothing except brute force. i got some handles from an 84 ford ranger and drilled holes in the shaft, tapped them out and PRESTO!!! no more annoying clips.

The clips aren't annoying when you have the tool.Besides the tool tool might run you a whole $5.00.
