clutch replacement 95 sl1

I just changed the clutch in my saturn. Along with the clutch I changed the slave cylinder. the old cylinder was destroyed. Now when we go to push the clutch in we have no pedal. We know it is pushing the piston on the cylinder out bc it broke the seal that came with it off. But the pedal has very little pressure to it and we can not shift. Please help!!

Re: clutch replacement 95 sl1

the system has air in it, the system needs bleed, this is way i recommend all clutch hydraulics be replaced as an assembly when changing the clutch. the OEM assembly from saturn comes pre-bleed. which as i'm sure you are about to find out it is not an easy thing to do.

here is how i am told to bleed the system(i have never done it myself):

I replaced my slave and master cylinder and successfully bled them. Here's how:
You can't do it once it's installed. Compress the slave rod and pour fluid in the line opening. Assemble everything. Compress the master rod all the way and then add fluid to the resevoir. Keep the resevoir full as you draw fluid into the cylinder (like a syrenge). There will still be air bubbles so hold the master in different positions while working the master rod (short quick strokes; you're only moving it a little) until the tiny bubbles stop appearing in the resevoir. The key is to do this in as many different angles as possible to get all the air out. And when you think you're done do it a little more to be sure.
