No electrical power on 2000 GA

I have a 2000 GA SE and am having an electrical problem. Car started fine, back out of drive. Turned it off for a second and it would not restart. There is no electrical power anywhere in the car (lights, radio, door locks, starter, etc.). I confirmed the battery is good and I have a charge to fuse box in the engine compartment. Is there some kind of main fuse that may have blown? Could it be the fusible link? If so, where is it located? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This may sound silly and with no intention to offend but are the terminals tight?

When you went to restart the car did it make any kind of noise like a clunk or bang?

I had a neighbor who had a similar problem, it turned out to be the starter got stuck, we smacked it with a hammer a couple of times and it started right up.

I'm just throwing stuff out to see if any thing sticks.

The battery terminals look good and I have a good charge to the fuse box. The battery is brand new too.

The reason for the question about the noise was in regard to the starter, if there was a clunk or bang it may have indicated that the starter may have gotten hung up. But that doesn't seem to be the problem.

I'm going to pull out the Haynes manual and see if I can come with anything. I'll let you know if I find anything A.S.A.P.

I checked the manual...one I have only goes up to 1998 but I would not think that there would be too much change to the basic electrical system. There is a fusible link it follows a red wire off of the generator which leads to the link which has a 12 guage blue wire for the 4 cylinder and in the 6 cyl there is either a 12 GA blue wire OR a 14 GA red wire from there it leads to the starter solenoid.

Do you happen to get anything if you put the car in neutral and try to start the car? ( probably a meaningless question) .

I hope this helps, I'm sure some of the other members may have some more suggestions, for some reason the forum is a little slow today, hang in there I know that we (the forum members) will get this figured out [if not the fusible link].

Please let me know if the fusible link is the problem.

Thanks for all the help. I'll take a lookat this weekend if the weather clears a bit here. I'll keep you posted. How will I know if the fusible link is bad??

You could probably use a test light, hook to the neg. terminal of the battery and then check for power on each side of the link. If you have power on the battery side and not on the other side of the link then you will know its toast.
