Air Filter

What size is the intake going to the stock airfilter? I want to replace it with a cone style filter. Any suggestion's on filters? (91 Stealth RT)

Re: Air Filter

Don't know the size, but IMO any filter is pretty much just as good as the next. K&N is known for being the best at filtration, but most others aren't very far behind. So I'd buy based on size.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

everyone is gonna tell ya to get the K&N cause its the best. well honestly it is the highest quality filter on the market and it is also dyno proven but its pricey.
I gotz a Matrix filter from 3SX, works well.
The size is the normal universal size but the filter hooks up to an addapter piece. without the addapter you wont be able to attach any filter.
I think I still have a spare addapter around. if you cant find one I can send you mine for the shipping cost.
let me know if your interested.

Re: Air Filter

I have the K&N FIPK, and I love it. It took me maybe 20 minutes to install, and looks cool

Yeah dude, I am interested because I want to intall a new air filter anyway. How much do you want it for or how much will the shipping be? Is it like a universal adapter made specially for the stealth/3000 GT? I live in Danville Pennsylvania. Dude.. thats awesome.. thank you..

I like you 2Fast, can I call ya 2Fast, ofcourse I can! I'm Musashi I can do whatever I want.
so which color filter did you get? I got the red one and a week later 3sx anounced the Carbon-fiber one.........bastards!

Project01, your in PA? we are on the same coast dude! I'll just send it to ya tomorrow, dont even worry about the shipping. just PM me you addy.
oh and yeah it is specifically for our cars. once you remove the stock air box the addapter will bolt up with 4 bolts to where the box used to bolt up. then you just pop the filter over it. I'll print out instructions and send them to ya along with the addapter.

BOOYAAH.

Re: Air Filter

K&N is pretty good as aftermarket filters go although the stock paper is better for filtration it kinda sucks in terms of flow so any large surface area K&N is a good compramise of the two. I got a nice big filter from here http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/knfilte...786a1afde8f669, In my research its the biggest K&N you can fit (the 9 inch fits but most people had to squish it down like an acordion to get it in), I got a 4.5" adapter to get it to mount up to the MAS from ImportPowerOnline... All told cost somthing like $66 shipped and I am happy I did the resaearch and bought this instead of the FIPK.
