Power Window Removal
Hey, quick question. Maybe an easy one to answer, hopefully. Does anyone know how to remove the power window assembly. My motor is shot, and I bought another one that's used, and I'm planning to install it myself. I'm having trouble removing the window and assembly itself. If anyone knows how to go about pursueing this, please, it'd help very much. Thanks.

not sure about the 240 but you should be able to take off the door panel, remove the bracket from the window itself then the motor should just unbolt and come out. you may have to remove the whole bracket/motor assembly but it shouldnt be too hard. remove the window first because it will give you a lot more room to work with.

its a bitch theres almost no room to move your hands or any tools around in there but it is possible it will probably take you a long ass time. no tips other than be patient.

also if you know any one in school with an auto shop you should be able to get a full dor layout
and step by step ints but as for the window there should be like 2 screws on the track holding it in but i could be mistaken

hmmm i think the the assembly maybe riveted on. I know at work i have to grind off rivets. But i only work on american cars so i have no idea. But it couldnt be to much different. You could rig it up and put a bolt and nut in there if you wanted, if you dont have a rivet gun. Of course i take the door fully off most the time because i have to switch all the stuff from one door into the new door.

Just went into my passenger door today. Slideways is on the money on this one. Pop the panel off, which involves unscrewing everything on the surface of the interior of the door you can find, and pulling off the panel. Don't try to gorilla pimp the thing off of there because you'll break something, or pull wires out of the window switch itself. pull off the plastic liner that protects the guts of the door from the latch side of the door towards the hinge side, and let it hang, or tape it over towards the hinges. If you aren't too anal then feel free to rip it off and throw it away. find where the window meets the bracket, and remove the window. Pull it carefully out of the top of the door. Four nuts remain that hold the bracket into the door. Take 'em out and fish the bracket out the same hole you took the window from. Then scratch your head and ask yourself... What if it was just the switch???

In my case, the problem was the pulley that holds the window cable in place by the motor assembly. Damn things made of plastic, and after 15-16 years of use decided to wear out a bit. The braided steel window cable versus the plastic pulley was a battle long fought, but finally won by the cable. I will post the result when I replace the pulley. The new parts I am hoping will take out any slack in the window and make it like new instead of just a little bit clunky/jumpy.
