Rough Idle - 96 GMC 5.7 (fuel inj. cleaning??)
I have a 96 GMC Sierra SLT with a 5.7l Vortec.
110000 miles. It has new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, all of which made it run much stronger. Still idles a little rough. I was thinking of having the fuel inj system cleaned. Anyone have this help a rough idle or any other suggestion?? Never gets a check engine light. Thanks |

Most in this forum are more knowlegeable than I, but I can
tell you changing my fuel filter was real easy on my 97. I also ran some injector cleaner through it and is running great. I've seen alot of suggestions on rough idle. Some look for vacuum/gasket leak. Some suspect the fuel regulator (especially if it hesitates to start when warm) Some have had a worn shaft thing in the distributor. Air filter (I put in a K&N air filter and it seems my milage has improved a bit.) I have seen people suspect the MAF sensor. people have suggested going to a shop that can read the GM codes on the computer before condemning injectors and such. Apparently, checking the fuel pressure is easy with the right tool. I see alot of folks replacing 02 sensors. Just some thoughts. |

Thanks for the info. I have recently installed a new fuel pump(1 year ago), changed the fuel filter, pcv valve, intake gaskets about a year ago
etc.. I am really curious if anyone cleared up a slightly rough idle with a fuel injection service?? Thanks |
