1983 Dodge Charger

Im going to see a 1983 Dodge Charger on Saturday. Its an old guy and he doesnt know if the engine is a 2.2L or a 2.5L or some japcrap engine. I hope its a turbo but I doubt it. If it isnt.... does anybody know the cheapest and easiest way to upgrade a 2.2L or 2.5L engine? (Im not getting any other kind)

I would appreciate it, thanks

ps: He sounds foreign so I hope he has a Shelby Turbo for me lol. Its $750 bucks but Im sure I can get him to come down on the price.

83 is most likely a 2.2 carb engine.

The 2.5L wasn't introduced until 86 and the 2.2 turbo wasn't available in a charger until the 85 Shelby Charger (83 and 84 Shelby Charger's got an HO 2.2 carb engine).

The turbo engines are the easiest to get big power out of, but there are a few tricks for the carb 2.2's as well. A lot of guys get rid of the pesky feedback carbs and there are headers and a few other parts out there for the carb cars.

Not sure where your located, but if your in a northern state look for rust in the front fenderwells, floors and rear 1/4's

Check out www.turbododge.com for lots of info on these cars.

if 2.2 HO it will have a chrome valve cover. If you want to upgrade I have shelby, glh stuff, rear louvers etc.
