need help!!!! Speedometer and odometer does not work! any help would be appreciated! Changed speed sensor - engine runs better but the speed/od still doesnt work. dial gauge not digital but could not find a speed cable anywhere?? does it evven have one? please help! thanks, sID

I had the same problem, come to find out that the speedometer does not have a cable, but a sensor, the fuse was burnt out, probelm solved

yes, the problem is a $0.50 fuse located in the box in the drivers side footwell.

thanks for the input - solved the problem and now my radio works too!!!!!!! The ford garage said it was the speedometer cluster and would cost $400 to fix - 50 cents did the trick. whew!!!!

I'm experiencing a similar problem with my fiance's 95 Sable. However, we've narrowed the problem to a disturbed drive gear on the transaxle output shaft. Does anybody know what's involved in replacing that? I don't know if we can pull the passenger side axle shaft and access it through there somehow or what our options are at this point. We've got the cover for the speedo drive gear off and the shaft that spins from the transaxle output to the VSS output is pulled out.
