timing

i have an 86 accord and i want to make sure that the lines are even with each other that that means top dead center. Its the one where theres the little peep whole in the distributer.

Use the mark on the flywheel to determine TDC.

ok. i lined up the white line on the mark with the vaccum advance lines plugged. I put them back on and checked the timing and the red line was like 4-5 degrees under the mark? I know its suppose to be right on the red line but since its wasnt whats that mean?
