All Season vs. Seasonal
Hey,
I'm fairly new to vehicle do-it-yourself world, and was looking for feedback on tires. I'm wondering what the upside and downside of using all season as opposed to seasonal. I've heard all season combines the friction of summer and winter tires? I'm all for performance enhancements, by the way. Speed and power is what I thrive for in a car. Thanks everyone. |

All season tires are by definition a compromise. They have to use harder compounds and less of a contact patch in order to drive in mud and snow, this is the exact opposite of what you want in a summer tire. There are some All-season tires that perform acceptably when pushed in dry conditions (notably the BFG T/A KDSW), but they tend to cost twice as much as a set of good summer tires and are still worse than a good set of summer tires.

That’s what I do. I started doing that 2 seasons ago & believe me I wish I had done that when I was a kid! It’s not really for performance & such, more for the fact that I hate getting stuck in the winter, & I hate being late for work. |
