Question Buzzing noise when turn signal is activated

Hi, I have a 1998 Explorer XLT. Occasionally when I put the turn signal on it will make a buzzing noise instead of clicking. Any suggetions?

Also, If I adjust the sterring wheel a certin way the turn signal wont work at all.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Buzzing noise when turn signal is activated

There might have been a recall
on the multi-function switch that year.

Re: Buzzing noise when turn signal is activated

I own a 96 sport and have experianced the same problems.....the buzzing is caused by lack of connection in your switch...replace it but first check your connection to your switch located in the column......if and when you adjust your column you dont have blinkers then you might have a loose wireing harness to your switch...check the connection then go from there. and as for the cost of the switch..i replaced mine at cost for $60-70 so plan on spendin at least 120 for it. hope this helps!!

Been There -- Fixed That

I have had a recurring similar problem with my '98 Eddie Bauer. Each time I've reseated the connector on the yellow relay under the dash adjacent to the steering column, the problem has disappeared.
Good Luck!
