I have a Bronco II with an A4DL automatic trans.
It's been having trouble determining when to shift. I tried a B&M shift plus, which lowers the vacuum signature. It made the problem worse. My problem is, I can't find the vacuum modulator. I was able to determine the correct vacuum line to install the shift plus, which was proved by the problem getting worse. But I can't see where the line goes to trace it to the modulator. Anyone out there who has replaced this or knows where it is? Please help!!!! Thanks a million. Cliff |

Been a long time since I looked at one of those, but if I remember right it is on the right side of trans above the trans pan, and may be hidden from your sight with a " thick foil like" heat shield to protect it from exhaust heat.

Re: 88 BII transmission vacuum modulator
cougarman.
Thanks for the assist. I will look closer. That foil/asbestos shield was kinda hanging free and I pulled it out to look, but couldn't see where the vacuum line went. This sounds like a drop the tranny kinda thing. CRAP. I just bought another BII with a manual tranny. I am considering putting that in to replace the automatic. A friend of mine thinks that it might pretty much go right in. We need to investigate compatibility issues. Thanks again. Cliff |
