AEM CAI Rev limit

ok well I finnaly put the intake on but check out the problem. aight so i just threw on the AEM CAI.. It sounds good and all but when I tried reving her up while in neutral to show my friends what it sounds like after the add on I noticed that it has created its own kind of rev limit. now it won't go pass 6k no matter how hard i gas it. It sounds like the shit is just choking but not even hitting the limiter/ fuel cutoff. But when I am driving it revs up to redline fine. It only happens when in neutral with no load just sitting there. I also tried coasting in neutral at about 15 mph and it reved fine but anything under 15 would put me back on the same problem. The car is definately warm. I never drive it before it heats up and it never happens in gear with a load. This just seems really strange because before I put the intake on it was fine no problems reving at all whether it be in neutral or 4th. somebody please help a brother out. If its gonna mest shit up I am taking the intake off and going back to stock. Holla back. Much thanks.

Re: AEM CAI Rev limit

i have a AEM CAI on my 4th gen VTEC and i have no reving problems... so im lost. does it rev fine if u put the car into gear and keep the clutch depressed? if not open your hood and mess with the throttle while you're watching to see if you notice anything unusual. if that doesn't show anything take it down to where you got the CAI and ask them to find out what's wrong. most places look for free and are happy to help. SRRY i cant be of more service

"I believe you're right about the 7500 rpm limit in gear, and in neutral i think it's 6000rpm." I found this posted in another one of your threads. Maybe your car isnt supposed to go above 6000 in neutral.

Re: AEM CAI Rev limit

Yeah, I posted that in another thread. The guy I bought my car from told me that, and I've heard it from a few other people as well. Supposedly it's to prevent the car from going into the final vtec stage, which apparently it doesn't do in neutral. I don't know if this is true for sure, I've never done it.
