Tib wants to run, I dont

My 2000 Tib just started doing this the other day with this problem, it shows no codes but on a few occasions when the key is turned off, the car continues to run, I turn the key back to the on position and try it again a few minutes later and it shuts off. Any clues anyone?

Hmmmm....might wanna look for a new key mechanism. If you want to salvage the one you have you will have to pull it out and check the points. When the key is in the ON positon it completes the circuit, allowing the electricity to flow thru the starter and such to make the car start and then run. When the key is in the OFF position, the circuit is opened, causing the flow of electricity to stop. Yours isn't opening the circuit, so it is either worn and needs replacing or the contact points could need replacing. Of course I have never taken apart the key mechanism on any year Tib, so I am not sure EXACTLY what to look for.
