Talking What would be a perfect amp for my subs??

my friend is looking to buy subs for his civic..

he wants to add a little bit of bass to the music in his car...

he's not a "sub" dude so...

And he told me he's interested in

Reaudio RE12s COST???
Elemental Designs 9Kv.2s COST???

He wants to put 2 subs, and the rms adding up to around 300~400.

I know this might sound "gay" to some people but...

So, if anyone has other recommendations, please post...

Oh, and he doesn't want to go over $300 for 2 subs.

Thanks.

Re: How much do these cost?

not gay, just wants better sound quality to his music and better bass and low extension. hha more mature than me.. i want my car to fall apart.

RE 12s - ~$75 a piece
Kv 12s (13Kv.2) (id suggest 12s over the 8's?) - 125 each shipped

the 9kv2s are 95 each shipped though

if i was looking at these options id go with the RE 12s prolly

Re: How much do these cost?

there are alot of subs out there with that rms range at that price. if your friend is not really concerned with spl then most subs will work. ive found that abusing subs is the best way to find out what kind of product it really is. if this person doesnt plan on abusing them they almost anything will work. even the crapiest subs can sound good with a decent amp and low volume. id check ebay. you could probably find some of the REs or another suitable sub

Re: How much do these cost?

he doesn't want to blow it up, or push it to the limit...

he's more concerned with sound quality than spl.

I'll say about 75% SQ and 25%SPL.

Oh, and which amp will go good with RE 12s? or Kv 12s (13Kv.2)?

And can I find out recommended box enclosure from their site??

Re: How much do these cost?

OH and the RE 12's, I love them, I would recommend them... You can easily push them past 240x2rms.....(which is what i'm running...)
I am using a Profile HA 1000, It works for me, but it isn't anywhere near the best, I have also heard some people don't like the amp that I have, but hey, whatever fits your budget

Re: How much do these cost?

no, boss is trash

you aren't going to get much better than profile without spending about 50% more

Re: How much do these cost?

if he is REALLY interested in SQ a pair of SE 10's (mid 100's i think) or Atlas 12's ($145) would be top notch, i have heard a 3-4 SE set ups and 1 atlas set up, both sound GREAT even ported. and the thing is both are so efficent that neither pair needs more than 300-400w RMS to get more than loud enough for most ears, really one atlas 12 ported and tuned low could suffice...and the box would be about the same size as compared to 2 atlas 12's sealed with a lower enclsore Q. and output would be about the same as well.
