Dirty fuel filters can also be a cause. You should have two fuel filters. One in-line, that is the one that is normally repalced, and one in the gas tank.
Replacing the O2 sensors and the catalytic converter would be wise and probably result in better gas mileage.
The problems you are having are common with a car that is now 10 years old with 183,000 on it.
I have already replaced the inline fuel filter so I guess i'll go ahead and do the trans filter since i'm sure it needs it. I have heard from quite a few people that changing a trans filter on a vehicle that has not had regular trans maintenance can result in slippage and hard shifting, and as i said before i'm not sure if it was maintained before i bought it. If you have any idea if this is the case let me know. I also plan on doing the o2 sensors so hopefully one of these corrects the problem. I really appreciate your time and input if you can think of anything else let me know if not hopefully i can help you with a problem sometime in teh future. Thanks
