Brake Acid?

I believe it was on this forum that someone mentioned a friend or relative who professionally uses an acid to clean brake dust from wheels. Did that someone ever find out specifically what product they use?

I re-tried cleaning my inner wheels this weekend with the genuine Simple Green Automotive, instead of the inferior (but less expensive) product I used previously. It did remove more of the gunk, but the wheels are still a long way from clean.

Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Brake Acid?

If you go to the 'cars in general' section of AF on the main page. And then to the 'detailing' subforum, they can answer that question with alot of great products and brands of wheel acid and where to buy it and whatnot. However, be careful with wheel acid. It can do serious damage to rims if left on just a minute too long.
